Buying your first home is exciting, but knowing where to start can feel overwhelming! Here are my top tips to help you take that first step onto the property ladder.
1οΈβ£ Get your finances and mortgage sorted π·
Work out what you can comfortably afford, save for your deposit and remember to budget for solicitor fees, surveys and moving costs. Speak to a mortgage adviser to get a Mortgage Agreement in Principle so you know your budget before you start viewing.
2οΈβ£ Make a wish list π
Think about your must-haves, such as location, number of bedrooms, parking and garden space. Be prepared to compromise on the things that aren't essential!
At RedRoots we have all different properties for clients different budgets in Sprotbrough.
3οΈβ£ Register with local estate agents π‘
Don't wait until a property appears on Rightmove! Register with local estate agents to hear about new homes before they officially hit the market. π
At RedRoots Property, our #HEADSUP campaign helps get properties in front of registered buyers through our social media and mailing list before they launch on the major property portals. You could find your dream home before everyone else even knows it's available!
4οΈβ£ Choose the right solicitor βοΈ
Your solicitor handles the legal side of your purchase, including searches, contracts and transferring ownership. Choose someone who communicates well and keeps you updated throughout the process.
Your estate agent may be able to recommend someone they trust and have worked with before with this process.
5οΈβ£ Always arrange a survey π
A mortgage valuation isn't a full property survey. Getting the right survey can help identify potential issues before you commit to buying.
